Active aging. ICT in the life of the elderly
Abstract
The World Health Organization reports that the number of old people is growing throughout the world, causing an accelerated aging and increased life expectancy. Active aging is to extend life expectancy in health and quality of life for all people as they age, the term refers to active continuous participation in social, economic, cultural, spiritual and civic affairs. This article aims to raise awareness of the impact of the use of computers in everyday life for seniors who have participated in a training workshop and meeting computing changes in mood and mindset to incorporate technological society, information obtained through a qualitative research project, through the modality of case study. At the end of the course it became notorious increased motivation to learn and use of ICT, reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation. The seniors feels that using new technologies encourages communication and generational digital divide is reduced.
