Abstract

The education sector is changing with the evolution and implementation of new technologies. Until recently, virtual platforms for the development of educational activities, collaborative e-learning software and even mobile devices such as electronic tablets were unthinkable resources in a classroom. Due to the evolution of technology, new teaching tools have been developed to strengthen education, among these we have Intelligent Tutor Systems (ITS) which are designed to strengthen learning inside and outside the classroom. The main objective of this work is the analysis of the use and characteristics of Intelligent Tutoring Systems as computer-assisted teaching programs, which use Artificial Intelligence techniques for the representation of knowledge and propose / direct a teaching prepared to behave as an expert, being able to make a situational diagnosis of the student and, in relation to it, offer a solution or action. In order to achieve the objective, the different components of an Intelligent Tutoring System and their implementation in different areas of science knowledge were studied.
